Matt is one of several people at Marshfield who came to the firm early in his career and has earned more and more responsibility as the years have passed. Having started as the receptionist, he was soon elevated to the trading team and made himself an integral part of Marshfield’s operations team. 

Now in his 20th year at Marshfield, Matt is very well-versed in operational and trading practices and procedures. He is by nature inquisitive and possesses an innate curiosity about what makes things work – and what makes things not work. 

His experience with the firm, combined with these characteristics, makes him the perfect fit for his new role. His responsibilities now concentrate on making the firm’s operations more efficient, processes more error-proof, and the workflow as smooth as it can possibly be. The impacts of these modifications are ultimately a win for our clients, our employees, and for our partners. 

Originally from South Florida, Matt left what he refers to as the concrete jungle to work in Voyageurs National Park in Northern Minnesota for a summer. It was very much a city boy goes to the country experience – and he loved being in nature. He still does today, and currently makes his home in rural Virginia where he says that the cats, dogs and he himself love the tranquil beauty and room to roam.
